Spicebush Swallowtail Caterpillar

This is a Spicebush Swallowtail Caterpillar; “It’s like opening up a Christmas present. Unfolding a Spicebush leaf in our backyard butterfly garden and finding this little gift inside is quite a treat! He's only about an inch long. That's not his real face. His real face is tucked underneath in the very front. This swallowtail ranges throughout the Eastern United States, but is more common in the south. It typically stays close to wooded areas, and close to the ground. In a typical year 2-3 broods are produced”
